Ahead of Buhari’s Inauguration: Fayose, opponents in war of words.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and his political rivals were locked in a war of words Thursday ahead of tomorrow ’s inauguration of Muhammadu Buhari as president of the country.
End to impunity
While Ekiti Youths under the Ekiti Youth Vanguard affirmed that the commencement of another administration in Abuja had brought an end to the reign of impunity under which Fayose prevailed, the governor in a riposte warned politicians against latching on the inauguration to fan trouble.

Alleged road blockade
The Ekiti Youths in a statement particularly warned the drivers’ unions and their members against releasing their vehicles to Governor Ayodele Fayose to block all roads leading to Ekiti to prevent APC lawmakers from entering the state.
Reacting to reports that the governor had directed that all roads into the state be blocked with state owned luxury buses and buses obtained from commercial drivers, the youths in a statement by their Coordinator, Charles Fakunle, warned drivers not to surrender their vehicles for any illegal act to disturb public peace.
“Any driver that releases his vehicle for that illegal act will have himself to blame. We warn seriously again that any driver that gets himself involved in this illegality will regret his action.
“We warn that any driver that wants to remain in business should not release his vehicle for any illegal operation and anyone who refuses to take our advice, we wish him good luck,” the statement said.
The group said the era of impunity ended midnight yesterday, saying that the time when President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Fayose rendered the nation’s constitution a joke was now over.
Fayose to be called to order
“The law will begin to operate by midnight today. After that, Fayose will be called to account for all his illegal acts. From midnight today, the police, SSS and soldiers will be under a retired disciplined Nigerian Army officer. Any one who flouts the nation’s law will pay dearly for it.
“By this, Fayose will no longer be in a position to protect any law breaker, including himself against any illegal conduct. It is on this note that we warn okada operators and drivers to protect their personal businesses instead of protecting, through illegal means , the governor that puts his children thousands of miles away in safety and enjoyment in America and Europe while arming innocent Ekiti youths with guns to fight security forces.
Fayose advises Nigerians
Meanwhile, Governor Fayose, in a Democracy Day message, called on Nigerians to see today’s transfer of power as an opportunity to develop Nigeria.
He also called on the people of the state to imbibe the tenets of democracy in order to bring about prosperity in the state.
He urged all Ekiti people to pursue the ideals and actions that would strengthen rather than undermine democratic   values in the polity.
Fayose called on security agencies to ensure proper maintenance of law and order, saying the call became necessary following reports that some might foment trouble following today’s emergence of the APC as the governing party.
His words: ‘’Ekiti people are known as a strong, resilient and courageous people, therefore, we must all rise in unison with patriotic zeal and collective determination to overcome various challenges confronting our dear state.
In addition, he said: “As a state, we have our good and bad days, but it is important to understand that rancour poses a serious threat to the development and sustenance of democracy. Despite the challenges we face in Ekiti State, we must commend all peace-loving people for opposing forces of evil who are the enemies of democracy, determined to truncate the electoral wishes of the people.
“I again assure you all that I will not go back on my promise to provide good governance and make this state better than I met it.’’
