Chief Ayo Fasanmi
First Republic senator, Chief Ayo Fasanmi, has restated his support for the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, saying the inauguration of the President-elect on Friday would mark a “a new dawn for Nigeria.”
Fasanmi, in a statement on Wednesday, said the result of the presidential election represented the fulfillment of the political prophecy of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who said the progressive elements in the country would come together in order to save Nigeria from its ills.
While congratulating Buhari in advance on his inauguration, Fasanmi described the APC’s victory as victory for Nigerians.
The statement read, “This is the day which the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. After 16 years of struggle, the dream of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, for the realignment of the progressives in the country has come true and by the grace of God, we will witness the dawn of a new era.
“Muhammadu Buhari is a tenacious character, a dedicated and committed politician, who is respected all over the world for his incorruptibility. I want to wish him luck on behalf of Nigerian elders and we also wish all our supporters the very best of luck in the new dispensation. Thank God, we have come and seen and we have conquered.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman, LEARN Plc, a publishing firm, Chief Emeke Iwerebon, has asked the President-elect not to renege on his promise to curb corruption.
Iwerebon, while delivering a lecture at the just concluded annual week of the Nigeria Bar Association, Ikeja branch , decried impunity in the country and advised the National Assembly to urgently pass a legislation to reform the criminal justice system to enhance swift and speedy dispensation of justice.
He said, “The judiciary must purge itself of its bad eggs and render judgement without fear or favour while the law enforcement agencies should be decentralised.
