In a statement personally signed, Ojo-Lanre described Kehinde as “the Moon of Street Journalism”, a rare gem who revolutionised soft-sell journalism in Nigeria through consistency, integrity, and creative innovation.
“His birthday may have been yesterday, but today marks a new chapter — a fresh year filled with purpose and grace,” Ojo-Lanre said.
He lauded Kehinde for transforming a genre once dismissed as irrelevant into a respected pillar of Nigerian journalism through his iconic platform, City People Magazine.
“Seye Kehinde is not just a journalist; he is a pioneer and a national asset whose contribution to personality journalism has inspired generations. His journey from selling just 4 copies out of an ambitious 5,000 debut to building a household name is a testament to resilience, vision, and tenacity,” the tourism boss stated.
Ojo-Lanre further praised Kehinde’s ethical stance in an industry often plagued by sensationalism, noting that the veteran journalist never indulged in blackmail or yellow journalism, but rather elevated truth, celebrated people, and promoted excellence.
“He is humble, principled, generous, and intellectually sound — a builder of dreams and a chronicler of greatness. His pages have shaped narratives and given voice to many untold stories across Nigeria,” he said
Tourism boss who described Kehinde as “the most unassuming genius in media”, expressed confidence that the journalist’s legacy would continue to inspire generations of media professionals.
