CCII mourns Baale Oluyole Estate Chief Yemi Ogunyemi

 


The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Baale of Oluyole Estate, Chief Yemi Ogunyemi, describing his death as a great loss to the Ibadan.

The late Ogunyemi was known for his dedication to community development and the promotion of Yoruba culture.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the council’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Olomide, CCII President-General, Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, described Ogunyemi as a passionate leader who contributed immensely to the growth and harmony of Oluyole Estate and Ibadan land at large.

Ajewole noted that Ogunyemi, a renowned broadcaster in the 80s and 90s, was not only a respected traditional leader, but also a bridge-builder who was known for peace and unity.

“His death is a huge blow, not just to Oluyole Estate, but to the entire Ibadan land. He was a dependable ally in our pursuit of preserving the cultural heritage of our people,” Ajewole said.

The CCII President-General urged other traditional leaders and community stakeholders to emulate the selfless service and leadership values demonstrated by the late Ogunyemi, urging Oluyole Estate community to ensure that his legacies are preserved.

As burial arrangements are being finalised by the family, the CCII called on all sons and daughters of Ibadan to join in honouring a man whose life was dedicated to service, peace, and progress.
