OYSHIA schedules enrollee for hip replacement surgery worth N7 million

Following the successful heart surgery of an enrollee, the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) has scheduled another enrollee for hip replacement surgery.

The agency’s Executive Secretary, Dr Sola Akande, disclosed this while speaking on a radio programme at the weekend.

He said the hip replacement surgery would be done in the next one or two weeks.

“Very soon, we will be having another hip replacement surgery. We have an enrollee who lost the use of her lower limb and she could not walk again.

“We are going to have a hip replacement with her first leg to start with. The surgery itself, at one of our facilities wil cost N12 million. Again, we are trying to talk to some other facilities and now, we are going to do it for around N7 million.

“How much did the enrollee pay? As a matter of fact, she is an enrollee that came in on adoption model. It is the chairman of Ibadan North Local Government that adopted about 150 lives then.

“When the chairman was paying, he never knew that he is going to save a life, he never knew he was going to redeem a destiny.

“In a week or two, the hip replacement would be done. We will see how that will go and see how we can do that of the other leg,” he said.
